On Monday, 22 January 2018, in the afternoon at 14:56, in Šakių district municipality, Daukantiškių village, on the Kiduliai–Gelgaudiškis–Gerdžiūnai regional road (kilometre 15.49), a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.45‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence.
