On Tuesday, 6 February 2018, in the evening at 18:47, in Šakių district municipality, Papiškių village, on the Kiduliai–Gelgaudiškis–Gerdžiūnai regional road (kilometre 5.36), a Volvo V70 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 60-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Volvo (16 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed.
