On Saturday, 17 February 2018, in the evening at 21:10, in Druskininkų municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 126), a Ford Galaxy ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 57-year-old driver of the Ford (16 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He evaded sobriety testing and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
