On Sunday, 11 March 2018, at night at 1:54, in Telšių district municipality, on the Žarėnai–Kuršai regional road (kilometre 3.65), an Opel Astra ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
