On Saturday, 31 March 2018, at night at 1:38, in Mažeikių district municipality, on Pavenčių street, at the junction with Naftininkų street, a BMW 520 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.44‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
