On Sunday, 22 April 2018, in the evening at 18:01, in Kalvarijos municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 88.36), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a DAF FT XF105 registered in Poland, a Schwarzmuller SPA 3/E registered in Ukraine, a DAF FT XF95 registered in Ukraine and an Opel Astra. One person was injured — the 38-year-old driver of the Opel (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the DAF FT XF105 (10 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
