On Tuesday, 1 May 2018, in the morning at 8:45, in Kalvarijos municipality, Trakėnų village, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 87), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo FH12 registered in Poland, a Schmitz Cargobull S.CS24-13.62 registered in Poland and a Peugeot 306. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Volvo (10 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
