On Saturday, 19 May 2018, at night at 0:30, in Kazlų Rūdos municipality, on the Gudeliai–Smilgiai–Būdviečiai regional road (kilometre 4.80), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Nissan Primera and an Opel Zafira. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Nissan, who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
