On Friday, 13 July 2018, in the afternoon at 15:30, in Šilalės district municipality, Ąžuolijos village, a Volvo V70 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 59-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Volvo, who committed other traffic rule violations.
