On Thursday, 20 September 2018, in the evening at 20:48, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 41), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Citroen Xsara and a BMW 3ER Reihe. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Citroen (22 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. She was drunk (1.95‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 120 km/h.
