On Tuesday, 2 October 2018, in the evening at 21:16, in Šiauliai, on Vilniaus street, at the junction with Žuvininkų street, at a pedestrian crossing, a BMW 525 D registered in Great Britain hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the BMW (2 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
