On Monday, 3 December 2018, at night at around 23:00, in Šiaulių district municipality, Juozapavos village, on the Kuršėnai–Dirvonėnai–Raudėnai–Tryškiai regional road, a Renault Laguna ran off the road. One person died — a 38-year-old passenger of the Renault. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Renault, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.54‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
