On Thursday, 7 February 2019, in the evening at around 17:00, in Tauragės district municipality, Genių village, a Volkswagen Touran ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.60‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
