On Saturday, 2 March 2019, at night at 2:44, in Tauragės district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 138), an Audi A6 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Audi (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.70‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
