On Saturday, 11 January 2020, in the evening at around 19:00, in Vilkaviškio district municipality, on the Vilkupiai–Gegužiai regional road (kilometre 1.02), a Peugeot 306 rolled over. One person was injured — a 14-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who was driving a vehicle with faults the traffic rules prohibit driving with. He was drunk (0.64‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). The Peugeot had recorded faults (ratų). At the time of the accident it was dark, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
