On Saturday, 1 February 2020, in the evening at around 18:00, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 50.90), an Audi A4 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest). He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
