On Monday, 3 February 2020, in the morning at 5:57, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 104.20), on a bridge, a Scania R420LA registered in Belarus rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 56-year-old driver of the Scania (29 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
