On Monday, 20 July 2020, in the evening at 19:28, in Klaipėda, on Šilutės highway, at the junction with Jūrininkų avenue, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Toyota Avensis, a Wielton and a Volvo. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 64-year-old driver of the Toyota, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.50‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
