On Wednesday, 26 August 2020, in the morning at 6:38, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road (kilometre 21.80), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volvo XC90 registered in Estonia, a Volvo and a VAN Hool -. Four people were injured — the 44-year-old driver of the Volvo XC90 (hospitalized), a 28-year-old passenger of the Volvo XC90 (hospitalized), a 27-year-old passenger of the Volvo XC90 (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 37-year-old passenger of the Volvo XC90 (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 44-year-old driver of the Volvo XC90 (15 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
