On Saturday, 29 August 2020, in the afternoon at 16:14, in Šalčininkų district municipality, on the Babriškės–Varėna–Eišiškės national road (kilometre 45.65), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Seat Ibiza and a MTZ Belarus-820. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Seat (less than a year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (1.85‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
