On Monday, 5 October 2020, at night at around 23:00, in Zarasų district municipality, on Kauno street, at the junction with I. Pašilio street, a Volvo 850 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Volvo, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
