On Friday, 8 January 2021, in the evening at 22:20, in Jonavos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 39.20), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel Vectra-B, a Schmitz and a Volvo FH. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
