On Sunday, 10 January 2021, in the evening at around 20:00, in Trakų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 25), an Opel Astra hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 50-year-old driver of the Opel (29 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
