On Saturday, 16 January 2021, in the evening at 19:30, in Šakių district municipality, Užsienių village, on Mindaugo street, at the junction with Skardupio street, a Volkswagen Phaeton ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (13 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
