On Saturday, 10 April 2021, in the afternoon at 14:10, in Klaipėdos city municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 226.40), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Lexus, a Mitsubishi Outlander, a Subaru Outback, a Mazda and an Opel Astra Sports Tourer. One person was injured — the 77-year-old driver of the Opel (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Lexus (20 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
