On Sunday, 16 May 2021, in the morning at 9:30, in Šiauliai, on Užuovėjos Sodų 2-oji street near No. 1, a Saab 9-5 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 63-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the Saab. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
