On Saturday, 31 July 2021, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Šilutės district municipality, Žąsyčių village, on the Kvėdarna–Švėkšna–Saugos national road (kilometre 17.30), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6 Avant and a Renault Megane Scenic. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
