On Saturday, 31 July 2021, in the evening at around 18:00, in Vilniaus district municipality, Naujakiemio village, on Kaniūkų street, a Mercedes-Benz E 220 CDI hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 57-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He was drunk (2.45‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
