On Sunday, 1 August 2021, in the evening at 18:30, in Šilutės district municipality, on the Šilutė–Rusnė national road (kilometre 4.62), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz CL63AMG and a Citroen C5. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
