On Monday, 9 August 2021, in the afternoon at around 11:00, in Jonavos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 18.03), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Honda Civic and an Audi A3. Two people were injured — the 69-year-old driver of the Honda (treated as an outpatient) and a 4-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 69-year-old driver of the Honda (20 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
