On Wednesday, 18 August 2021, in the evening at 22:18, in Panevėžys, on Smėlynės street, at the junction with Šiaurinė street, an Audi A4 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
