On Saturday, 28 August 2021, in the afternoon at 16:15, in Alytaus district municipality, Bundžių village, on the Trakai–Rūdiškės–Pivašiūnai–Alytus national road (kilometre 53), a Mazda 3 rolled over. One person died — a 84-year-old passenger of the Mazda (later died from the injuries). One person was injured — a 86-year-old passenger of the Mazda (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the Mazda (23 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
