On Friday, 3 December 2021, in the evening at 19:15, in Rietavo municipality, Girėnų village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 250), a Mitsubishi Colt hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (11 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
