On Thursday, 23 December 2021, in the evening at 20:45, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 44.32), a Peugeot 206 rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Peugeot (29 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.27‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
