On Monday, 17 January 2022, in the evening at around 17:00, in Šilalės district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 212), a Suzuki Grand Vitara ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the Suzuki (31 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
