On Monday, 15 August 2022, in the morning at around 8:00, in Šakių district municipality, Zygmantų village, on the Zygmantai–Paluobiai regional road (kilometre 0.95), a BMW hit an obstacle. Two people were injured — a 34-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient) and a 42-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.32‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. A 34-year-old passenger of the BMW was drunk (1.81‰). A 42-year-old passenger of the BMW was drunk (2.12‰). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
