On Monday, 9 January 2023, in the morning at 8:05, in Šiaulių district municipality, Lūpaičių village, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 40), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a truck, a BMW and a trailer/semi-trailer > 10 t. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
