On Friday, 10 March 2023, in the afternoon at 16:15, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 28.60), an Iveco AS440S40 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Iveco (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident there was a blizzard, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
