Unlicensed Lexus IS driver and Audi crash on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas road
On Saturday, 15 July 2023, at night at 23:20, in Vilniaus city municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 18.80), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Lexus IS 220 and an Audi A6. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Lexus (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
