On Thursday, 20 July 2023, in the evening at 21:20, in Molėtų district municipality, on the Kairionys–Girsteitiškis–Balninkai regional road (kilometre 15), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Rover 420 and an Audi Q5. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the Rover, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.60‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
