On Monday, 1 January 2024, in the morning at 5:45, in Klaipėda, on Klaipėdos street, at the junction with Pajūrio street, a car hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 69-year-old driver of a car (46 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.64‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
