On Wednesday, 21 February 2024, in the evening at 17:42, in Mažeikių district municipality, on Laisvės street, at the junction with Pervažos street, a Mercedes-Benz Actros 2541 registered in Latvia hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (16 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
