On Sunday, 14 April 2024, in the evening at 21:30, in Alytaus district municipality, Alytaus village, on Takniškių street near No. 2, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a car and a Honda. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of a car (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.65‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
