On Thursday, 27 June 2024, in the evening at 18:48, in Šakių district municipality, Kašelių village, on the Rupinai–Jadagoniai–Pavilkijys–Kriūkai regional road (kilometre 14.43), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Honda CR-V registered in Sweden and an Audi 80. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Honda, who failed to give way when changing direction. She had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
