On Sunday, 4 August 2024, in the evening at around 17:00, in Kaunas, on Šarkuvos street near No. 1, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Opel Astra, a Volkswagen and a Mercedes-Benz. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Opel (10 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.11‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
