On Monday, 12 August 2024, at night at around 3:00, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 281), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a vehicle, a trailer/semi-trailer > 10 t and a MAN TGX. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
