On Sunday, 15 September 2024, in the evening at 22:20, in Marijampolės municipality, Šilavoto village, on the Marijampolė–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 5), a Skoda Fabia hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Skoda, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.17‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
