On Thursday, 19 September 2024, in the evening at 19:36, in Kretingos district municipality, on the Salantai–Grūšlaukė–Benaičiai regional road (kilometre 6.40), a Yamaha FJR 1300 hit an animal. Two people were injured — the 51-year-old driver of the Yamaha (hospitalized) and a 49-year-old passenger of the Yamaha (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Yamaha (33 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
