On Sunday, 13 October 2024, in the afternoon at 15:04, in Trakų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 26), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Audi A4, a Subaru Forester and a Volkswagen Tiguan. Six people were injured — the 43-year-old driver of the Audi (treated as an outpatient), a 48-year-old passenger of the Subaru (treated as an outpatient), a 66-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient), the 45-year-old driver of the Subaru (treated as an outpatient), the 67-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (severely injured, hospitalized) and a 38-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of the Audi (25 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
