On Saturday, 19 October 2024, at night at around 3:00, in Mažeikių district municipality, on Ventos street near No. 39, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a BMW X5 and a Toyota Verso. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.32‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
